Privacy Policy
Last Updated: November 15, 2025
Welcome to Zaya Handmade, based here in sunny San Diego, California! We know that when you shop online, your trust is paramount. This policy is designed to be straightforward, it explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and most importantly, how we protect your privacy, especially under California law.
1. The Information We Collect
We collect personal information to process your orders, communicate with you, and generally make your shopping experience great.
- Information You Provide Directly: This includes your name, shipping and billing addresses, email address, and phone number when you make a purchase or sign up for our newsletter.
- Payment Information: We use secure third-party payment processors (like Shopify Payments or PayPal) for purchases. We do not store your full credit card information on our servers; the payment processor handles that securely.
- Automatic Information (Device & Usage Data): When you visit ZayaHandmade.com, we automatically collect data about your device and how you interact with our site. This includes your IP address, browser type, time zone, and information about the pages you view. This helps us understand what you love and what we can improve.
2. How We Track and Use Cookies
Like most modern websites, we use cookies and similar technologies (often called “pixels” or “tags”) to help us understand our customers and run effective advertising.
- Google Analytics: This tool helps us see how visitors use our site, which handbags are popular, where traffic comes from, etc. This data is aggregated and anonymous, helping us improve the site’s function.
- Google Tag Manager / AdWords: We use these to measure the success of our ads (like Google Shopping ads). The tags help us know if someone bought a bag after clicking one of our ads.
- Meta Pixel (Facebook/Instagram): This pixel allows us to show you personalized ads on Meta’s platforms (Facebook and Instagram). It tracks your activity on our site (like adding an item to your cart) so we can display relevant products later.
- Cookies: Small data files stored on your device that remember your preferences (like what’s in your cart) and facilitate the tracking technologies mentioned above.
3. When We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information for monetary value. However, we do share data with the following parties to run our business:
- Service Providers: We share necessary details (like your name and address) with shipping partners (USPS, FedEx) and payment processors to complete your order.
- Marketing & Advertising Partners: The Meta Pixel and Google Tags mentioned above share certain data points (like browsing history and purchase intent) with these platforms to enable cross-context behavioral advertising. This activity may be considered “sharing” or “selling” under California law.
- Legal Compliance: If required by law, we will disclose your information to comply with legal processes (like a court order).
4. Your California Privacy Rights
Because we operate out of San Diego, California residents have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA).
The Right to Know
You have the right to request that we disclose the specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you over the past 12 months.
The Right to Delete
You have the right to request the deletion of your personal information that we have collected, subject to certain exceptions (like completing your order or complying with legal obligations).
The Right to Opt-Out of Selling or Sharing
While we do not sell data for traditional cash payments, the use of the Meta Pixel and Google Ads tracking may constitute “sharing” or “selling” for cross-context behavioral advertising purposes under California law. You have the right to opt out of this “selling” or “sharing.”
How to Opt-Out: You can manage your preferences through our website’s cookie banner (if available) or by contacting us directly (see Section 6).
The Right to Non-Discrimination
We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA/CPRA rights.
5. “Do Not Track” Disclosure
Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” signal. Because there is no universal standard for how DNT signals should be interpreted, we do not currently alter our data collection practices when we receive a DNT signal. However, California residents can always use their Opt-Out rights described above.
